4Q&A
Stamping die is a special process equipment that processes materials (metal or non-metal) into parts (or semi-finished products) in cold stamping processing, called cold stamping die (commonly known as cold stamping die). Stamping is a pressure processing method that uses a die mounted on a press to apply pressure to the material at room temperature to produce separation or plastic deformation, so as to obtain the required parts.

Mold design and manufacturing modernization is the foundation of mold industry development. With the development of science and technology, advanced technologies such as computer technology, information technology and automation technology continue to penetrate, cross and integrate with traditional manufacturing technology, and are transformed into advanced manufacturing technology.
The reasonable choice of mold material and the correct heat treatment process are the key to ensure the life of the mold. For different uses of the mold, should be based on its working conditions, stress, processing material properties, production batches and productivity, etc. Emphasis is placed on the above requirements, and then the corresponding choice of steel and heat treatment process is made.
When the production batch of stamping parts is large, the material of the punch of the working parts of the die and the die should be a die steel with high quality and good wear resistance. The parts materials of other process structural parts and auxiliary structural parts of the mold should also be improved accordingly. When the batch is not large, the requirements for material properties should be appropriately relaxed to reduce costs.
The stamping die uses a variety of metal and non-metal materials, mainly including carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, cast steel, hard alloy, low melting point alloy, zinc base alloy, aluminum bronze, synthetic resin, polyurethane rubber, plastic, birch laminate and so on.
The materials used in the production of molds require high hardness, high strength, high wear resistance, appropriate toughness, high hardenability, no deformation after heat treatment (or small deformation), no cracking during quenching.
When the punching material is hard or has a large deformation resistance, the punch and die of the die should be made of materials with good wear resistance and high strength. When drawing stainless steel, aluminum bronze master die can be used because it has good adhesion resistance. However, the guide column and guide sleeve require wear resistance and good toughness, so the surface carburizing and quenching of low carbon steel are often used.
For example, the main defect of carbon tool steel is poor hardenability. When the section size of die parts is large, the center hardness is still low after quenching. However, when working on a press with a large number of strokes, it becomes an advantage due to its good impact resistance. For the fixed plate and unloading plate parts, it is necessary not only to have sufficient strength, but also to have small deformation during the working process.
In addition, cold treatment and cryogenic treatment, vacuum treatment and surface strengthening can also be used to improve the performance of die parts. For the cold extrusion die with poor working conditions of the Yin and Yang die, die steel with comprehensive mechanical properties such as sufficient hardness, strength, toughness and wear resistance should be selected, and it should have a certain red hardness and thermal fatigue strength.
